I began smoking cigarettes at the age of 14.
I lived in a challenging environment, and I saw all my role models smoke, so why couldn’t I? It also gave me this head change that helped me forget about all my problems for a few minutes. Of course, that only lasted a week or so, but by then, I was hooked.

I have always been fiercely independent. I was the kid who worked two jobs at the age of 14 and saved all my money for a “rainy day”. I didn’t need anyone but I desperately wanted someone to attach myself to. Growing up I was exposed to traumatic events that made me determined to do everything on my own, but inside all I wanted was a best friend and partner. I didn’t really date anyone until I was 19Read More
When I was a little girl, I never liked to be hugged. I was shy, introverted, and I avoided direct contact with people because I was extremely sensitive to the touch. Little things like a poke or a jab didn’t seem to affect others, but I experienced intense pain. In high school, I developed ganglion cysts in both of my wrists and had limited use of my hands. A doctor wrote me a pass for Physical Education, so I didn’t ever have to “exercise” in school again. I thought it was great, but it just furthered my lack of movement making my pain symptoms worse.Read More
When I was little, I dreamed about prince charming rescuing me from my circumstances and building this perfect life with the white picket fence and 2.5 kids.
When I got married, I quickly realized that Prince Charming doesn’t exist and that marriage wasn’t what they make it seem like in the movies.
I’ve been married now for 18 years to my husband Nick. A lot of you know him from appearances on my Instagram, and many posts that I’ve shared about our story of restoration
I receive hundreds of messages every single day. Most of them are nice and encouraging (besides the obscene messages from men), but I occasionally get messages from women judging me for what I say, look like, or what I choose to post about. Today, I got one telling me that I don’t understand what yoga is all about because I focus too much on core work, which is funny because clearly they also don’t know what yoga “is all about.”Read More
When I was going through adolescence, like most, my face broke out with acne.
I had what is called cystic acne that was very painful. I’d also have smaller pimples and blackheads, but it was the cystic acne that was the most unbearable. I was already shy and awkward so having acne just made it harder for me to feel good about myself. I would hide my face and look down when talking to people, and I can’t remember a time I ever had clear skin.Read More
I’ve often been asked about fibromyalgia and how I manage to practice yoga, raise 2 children, travel the world, and be successful in my businesses while living with severe chronic pain. I want to share with you what it’s really like and encourage others dealing with this challenge.

When I was little, as you may have heard me post about on Instagram, I was shy – painfully shy. I was the youngest of 3 girls, and we all had huge age gaps in our ages. My oldest sister and I are 15 years apart. My middle sister and I have 6 years between us. These large gaps meant that a lot of my growing up, I did alone when my sisters had moved out of the house.Read More
